Nandalal Bose


Nandalal Bose was born in Kharagpur, Bihar in 1882. He finished his education from Presidency College, Calcutta in 1905 thereafter he joined GCAC in 1905. He was first batch student of Abanindranath Tagore. He finished his GCAC in 1910. He did part time teaching at Jurasanko, Nivedita Girl's School from 1910-1914. From 1916-17 he joined part time Art Classes at Vichitra Club. He was principal of VBU from 1922-51. He held his first exhibition in ISOA, Calcutta in 1908 and thereafter in 1910-1912. In 1914 he participated in Societe des peintres Orientalistes Francais, Grand Palaos, Parisand travelled Belguim, Holland and Imperial Institute, England. His works were displayed in Athenee Gallery, Geneva, Switzerland in 1928 and at many more places. His paintings are with Indian Museum, Calcutta, NGMA, New Delhi, Rabindra Bharti University Museum, Calcutta, Trustees of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
