Dwarka Prasad


DWARKA PRASAD was born on 6th March 1922 in a middle class Brahmin family . He was inclined towards art since childhood as his father was a very good musician . It was his love towards art that took him away from his school classes and brought him near to Bikaner's "USTA" family where he started taking interest in art and sculptures .

He was a very big follower of Muller and used to watch his work taking great interest . When Muller noticed this he started giving lessons of ART to him . Prasad's interest and hard work made him assistant of Muller within a very short span of time .

He went to Bombay for higher studies of art and took admission in Ketkar Art College where he was awarded the BEST student of the year . Because of second world war Prasad had to leave his studies in between and come back to his family . Because of financial problems during war time he started working in Calcutta where he earned a lot , but he was not mentally satisfied as all this was taking him away from Art . So finally he came back to Rajasthan .

Prasad was awarded by Lalit Kala Academy in 1958,59,60,61 and 67 . He exhibited his first solo exhibition in 1967 in Delhi . His work was appreciated by Charles Fabri and many other artists of the country .His works were displayed in All India Fine Art Society , New Delhi , Calcutta Art Society every year. His 6 paintings are in Governor's office , Jaipur , 2 in jaipur Museum to name a few .
