Kshitindranath Mazumdar


Born in Nimtita, Murshidabad district, West Bengal, Mazumdar was educated as a student of Abinandrinath Tagore. He became a teacher of the ISOA in -1912, eventually becoming principal; he remained there until 1930. From 1942 until 1960 Mazumdar was principal of the Art department of the Allahabad University. He exhibited widely, including the Festival of Empire, Crystal Palace, England, in 1911 and a traveling exhibition in the U.S.A. ( organized by American Federation of Art ), 1924. Mazumdar often worked with mythological and traditional themes, painting in the wash technique. He died in 1975.
